NOTE: This blog is still a work in progress! Besides adding more posts, I’ll be updating the format of the site continually for a few weeks.
Welcome to Mystery of Math! This blog aims to expose young students to the math behind the problems they encounter in their math classes. From simple concepts such as Euler’s number (or “e”) to more complex postulates that define basic mathematics such as “any number squared is always positive” and “adding by a negative is the same as subtracting.”
I’m a high school student who loves math, writing, and teaching, so I started this blog at the end of 2022 when I was bored over winter break. I’m fascinated by the innovations in science and math that are happening around the world at every given moment. In order to keep these discoveries solidified in my mind, and also to spread this information through this platform, I created another category for posts dedicated to math news.
Finally, there’s a section labeled “Food For Thought.” Here I write about little miscellaneous math facts I find interesting, such as “square numbers are the only integers to have an odd number of factors” or “every prime number is next to a multiple of six.” For some of these facts, I’ll explain why they’re true, similar to the descriptions of the math concepts I discuss mainly in the first category.
I hope you enjoy this site. Take a look around and see if anything grabs your attention. The best feeling is knowing some odd math trivia and being able to impress your friends.
